More about me & our trip to Tennessee

So a little bit more of me, this is my horse Patch (Appaloosa), which I have had for a year now in October. I grew up on Tennessee Walkers then decided I would branch out and I went and bought my first Appy. I immediately regretted the decision, I was convinced this horse hated me. Little did I realize he was testing his new rider. After about two weeks I just fell in love with this boy. He has the biggest heart and has now been my most trusted horse for this full year and if I had ten or twelve more just like him, I would be the happiest person ever. Well anyways, so here are some photos from our trip to Tennessee. We went to the October week long ride at the Buffalo River Trail Ride. Before we went there we drove up to Etheridge, TN to get the horses shoes put on by the Amish men, and it was some of the coolest things I've ever seen. Driving down the road in our trucks and passing horses and buggies. It was really amazing! When we got to the man that does our horses, they were all so nice and had a ton of gorgeous tack for sale. I myself bought an amazing hand stitched breast collar. Okay now for the pictures!......

 And this was the last day we rode, needless to say, I had ridden another horse I almost bought, and after getting thrown once (we got in bees) and him sliding down a 10 foot washout (is an inexperienced mountain horse, I was running him on barrels though), I had decided I was going to ride Patch the last day. He gave me the best ride I've ever had on him. We led the trail group of about 9 people and I just had an absolute blast. He's my forever horse.

After re-visiting this campsite for a second time, I will recommend this place to anyone. They have a very nice setup for horses. It is so accommodating. Since I was there two years ago, they have made the campsites much neater and nicer, and every campsite comes with a picnic table and fire pit. The horses can be put in a fully enclosed barn, or you can choose for them to be in a nice paddock, or in a covered stall barn. This year we chose the covered stalls. They were very nice and even came with hooks for water and feed buckets. From our campsite, we could also keep our eye on the horses at all times. Here are some photos of the horse accommodations. As far as the riding goes, we only had about a day and a half to cover some trails, but they were very nice, open trails. The horse could poke along or they were so open that you could lope your horse some. It mainly consists of pines, but somehow it never got boring. The scenery was awesome. I've got some picture...

A little about where we're going next... The Heart of Dixie (Troy, Alabama)

So as you all know, I am very much into trail riding. That is, and will always be, my favorite thing to do with my horses. Well, every year for the weekend of New Years, my aunt and all of our friends from Florida meet up at the Heart of Dixie Trail Ride in Troy, Alabama. Do not take this lightly when I say this is my FAVORITE place to ride of all time in the south (and I've been to a lot of places). They have around 1,000 acres with 35 miles of trails! I had been riding there for years with my family, so last year when I bought Patch, there was no question where he was going to be staying. I boarded him at their facility and got to know everyone who worked there. They are some of the most kind people I've ever met, and they have awesome paddocks, barns, and fields for the horses. When camping there, you can choose between a paddock, which can hold 3 horses, or you can choose a covered or uncovered stall for them.
