Meet Annabelle, my newest barrel horse ;)


malibu got her feet done again and our farrier got her back feet on the stand for a little while!! she improved much better since the first time! 




As you all know I recently got a new 3 year old! Well she is going to be my barrel horse one day.. LOL. Her sire is MC B Sunkindawonder and his father was Sun Frost, which goes back to Doc Bar. But, I have to have a horse I can trail ride on as well. I also believe it is a very good thing for a barrel horse's mind. So I took her on her first trail ride yesterday and she was amazing! She was a bit skittish of the ditch drains and mailboxes we had to pass to get in the woods, but didn't bat an eye at the trucks that passed on the road. Once we got in the woods, she led the other horse through mud, up little hills, and at one point we got off of the trail and were pushing through trees and briars. She truly amazed me and I think she's going to be a great horse, even if she is a little goofy on the ground. Well here are some pictures! Enjoy! 12.21.17







So today was the day! We went to the barrel race in Ozark and unfortunately Annelore and Shi had a spill(the pictures are in blogpost titled "Cowgirl Up"), but both were okay!!

Coldwater Equestrian Campsite and Trails (Milton, Florida)

After re-visiting this campsite for a second time, I will recommend this place to anyone. They have a very nice setup for horses. It is so accommodating. Since I was there two years ago, they have made the campsites much neater and nicer, and every campsite comes with a picnic table and fire pit. The horses can be put in a fully enclosed barn, or you can choose for them to be in a nice paddock, or in a covered stall barn. This year we chose the covered stalls. They were very nice and even came with hooks for water and feed buckets. From our campsite, we could also keep our eye on the horses at all times. Here are some photos of the horse accommodations. As far as the riding goes, we only had about a day and a half to cover some trails, but they were very nice, open trails. The horse could poke along or they were so open that you could lope your horse some. It mainly consists of pines, but somehow it never got boring. The scenery was awesome. I've got some picture

A little about where we're going next... The Heart of Dixie (Troy, Alabama)

So as you all know, I am very much into trail riding. That is, and will always be, my favorite thing to do with my horses. Well, every year for the weekend of New Years, my aunt and all of our friends from Florida meet up at the Heart of Dixie Trail Ride in Troy, Alabama. Do not take this lightly when I say this is my FAVORITE place to ride of all time in the south (and I've been to a lot of places). They have around 1,000 acres with 35 miles of trails! I had been riding there for years with my family, so last year when I bought Patch, there was no question where he was going to be staying. I boarded him at their facility and got to know everyone who worked there. They are some of the most kind people I've ever met, and they have awesome paddocks, barns, and fields for the horses. When camping there, you can choose between a paddock, which can hold 3 horses, or you can choose a covered or uncovered stall for them. We typically get the paddocks when it is not going to be bad w

The road to Cowboy Christmas

8 states/ 6 rodeos in 6 days? Why not?! So for the past week and a half, Josey and I hit the road with Ericka Nelson again to give her some company on the rodeo road during Cowboy Christmas! (Ericka is sitting 15th in the pro rodeo standings right now and she’s been doing well so far!) We left on Sunday, the 28th of June from Troy, Alabama and headed to Tyler, Texas to the performance horse spa to pick up her backup horse, Abby.  After we picked Abby up, we headed to Brock, Texas to stay for a few days at our awesome friends’ ranch.    Their back patio & my view from my coffee mug every morning :)  While we were there, Ericka rode with someone to a rodeo in Arizona that got entered the same time as her so Josey and I stayed and hit some western thrift stores in Weatherford, Texas, and of course stopped at Teskeys a few (several) times. We ended up finding several awesome western thrift stores and I managed to snag a good bit of old Wranglers for myself and some super cool vi
